Bobby K. Newman
Attorney
Over the course of his extensive career, Mr. Newman has earned a reputation as a tenacious trial lawyer who aggressively pursues the most favorable outcomes possible for his clients. Recognizing him for his exceptional trial abilities, The Houston Chronicle named Mr. Newman among Houston's Most Aggressive Divorce Lawyers. He is an effective advocate not only in court but also at mediations and arbitrations, encouraging parties to resolve their conflicts and reach agreements without the need for expensive, time-consuming court battles if a reasonable solution based upon informed decisions can be had. Mr. Newman’s strong accounting and financial background, including teaching a fraud class at the prestigious McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, contribute to his success at tracking hidden and wasted funds in contentious high net worth cases.
Mr. Newman received his bachelor’s degree in finance in 1991 from The University of Texas at Austin. In 1994, Mr. Newman earned his law degree from the South Texas College of Law. He is admitted to practice law in all state district courts in Texas, the United States District Court-Southern District of Texas and the United States District Court-Eastern District of Texas. Mr. Newman was on the board of directors of the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section and acted as its vice president director, and/or its treasurer from 1999 through 2004. He was a member of Family Law Inns of Court from 1998 through 2003. Mr. Newman has also been recognized in Texas Monthly magazine in its Super Lawyer edition for his legal services and was named one of Houston’s Top Lawyers by Houstonia Magazine. He was selected as one of 10 best in client satisfaction by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys and has been recognized by Who’s Who as the Professional of the Year in Law. He is often cited by news media as an expert on family law.

Dawn Archer is an attorney that has been practicing family law exclusively for over a decade. She specializes in high-conflict custody and complex property cases. She is a font line litigator and is highly regarded for her trial skills and defending and prosecuting enforcement actions. She has co-counseled over sixteen jury trials with Mr. Newman during which she took an active roll in all aspects of the case including examining witnesses. Her unique skillset, direct approach and significant experience in the courtroom has contributed greatly to the success of Bobby K. Newman, P.C. clients. Dawn graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of St. Thomas in 1996 and earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 2009. She had established her own significant family law litigation practice and was a very sought after family law litigator before joining Bobby K. Newman, P.C. in 2017.
Babak A. Roozbeh
Associate Attorney
A 2015 graduate of the Texas A&M University School of Law, Mr. Roozbeh has been Bobby Newman’s associate since 2016. He also worked for the firm as a summer associate while in law school. Mr. Roozbeh attended Texas Christian University for his undergraduate studies. Mr. Roozbeh’s practice of law has been exclusively in the area of contested family law matters. As a litigation associate, he has handled contested trials and temporary hearings. He has participated as the lead lawyer on hundreds of mediations and arbitrations and also co-counseled several jury trials. He has worked with clients to help resolve complex, high conflict, high-net-worth property disputes, including cases involving marital estates in excess of $100,000,000. Mr. Roozbeh provides detailed and constant attention to clients and their needs throughout their case and works tirelessly to favorably resolve matters for clients.
Zafar “Zaf” Tahir
OF COUNSEL
Mr. Tahir has handled several significant family law cases with Mr. Newman. With experience in various businesses arms, he brings a unique perspective to negotiating favorable resolutions for his clients. Mr. Tahir has a BS in Engineering, an MBA and a JD. He is licensed in Texas as a professional engineer (PE) and as an attorney. In 2000, Mr. Tahir was the first Muslim American to be elected as a National Delegate as was reelected in 2004. He has served the City of Houston in various appointed and advisory capacities for the last 22 years, currently serving as the Commissioner for Houston Planning and Houston Airports. Mr. Tahir has been appointed to the Board of the University of Houston’s Bauer School of Business.
